11600K, 32GB 3200Mhz (2x 16GB) advice

Hello folks I'm after a bit of advise, never too proud to ask for help.

I've got an 11600K here that will run 2x 8GB 3200MHz fine, memtest 0 issues, boot to windows and work perfectly.

I got a good deal on a 32GB kit of the same RAM but 2x 16GB @ 3200Mhz.

PC boots / passes memtest with 1x 16GB 3200MHz DIMM in running at 3200Mhz but won't post at 3200MHz with both sticks in.

The other stick is the same, boots fine @ 3200MHz, its just if you fit both 16GB DIMMS it refuses to post at 3200MHz...but will work fine @ JDEC of 2400MHz.

Answers on a post card please folks, the RAM is on the QVL list for the board, its a B560 Tomahawk WiFi & i5 11600K.

did you clear CMOS after each change to memory config?

Yup CMOS cleared, settings applied.

 

Works fine with a single 16GB DIMM @ 3200 just not with both installed.

Have you updated the BIOS of the motherboard?

I'm not certain about Rocket Lake, but sometimes increasing DRAM or VCCSA/VCCIO a tiny bit can help.

 

Seems its called slightly different on Rocket Lake.

 

I wouldn't go in there upping voltages right yet, go do your own research on save settings. But I suspect adding +.05v above your current setting won't harm it.

  • Do not push the standard VCCIO voltage. There is now a M_VCCIO Voltage or VCCIO 2 voltage that will help with your memory OC. 1.55-1.65V has been plenty here and on Ln2 without issues.

The memory controller in Rocket Lake is a bit of a step back from previous. You might have to use Gear 2. I don't have much experience of the generation but I suspect boards are pushing Gear 1 for performance.
