My current PC build is:

CPU - Ryzen 5 1600 AF

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

GPU - Radeon RX 570 4gb

Motherboard - Gigabyte B450m DS3H v2

RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16gb (2x8gb) 3200 CL16

Storage - WD Blue 500 GB SSD, Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB HDD

PSU - Thermaltake Smart 500W 80+

Monitor - Sceptre 1920x1080p 165 Hz 

(5 120m case fans)

 

What are your thoughts on this build? Where is it lacking, what should be upgraded soon/next, etc?

What do you have the budget for? The Ryzen 5 1600 isn't that great of a chip and gaming at 1080p, I think you can likely see some gains with a CPU upgrade and keep that RAM.

I want to stick to a lower budget, essentially the cheapest upgrade that would actually be valuable, I don't want to spend a couple hundred $$ for a tiny performance increase.

I'd look at used Ryzen 2600's, they are a good bump up from the 1600.  Or if your performance is adequate, save up for a full upgrade.

 

I'd probably go with SSD.  They'll carry over to your next build and provide a boost for modded game loading if you have them.  Not a big boost to regular gaming, but can lessen stutter and low fps spikes.

 

Or save up.  Your call.
