Do you recommend ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ?

Do you recommend it for a user used to IPS and 1440p (109 PPI)?

I play offline AAA games

No. 

 

It is the height to width. 

At that height I am usually 18 to 20" away from a screen but at that width I am usually 30" from the screen so it would look too small. 

 

It is 1080p.

The text on my 3440 X 1440 monitor was not sharp enough since I also use 4k monitors and they are sharp. 

 

I play offline AAA games and use OLED TVs. They are about as width as the XG49VQ but they are about 27" tall so 16:9. 

 

My 34" 3440 X 1440 21:9 monitor was good for gaming and I replaced it with a 38" 3840 X 1600 monitor that was great for gaming and productivity.

I would recommend both.

I wouldn't recommend any 49" super-ultrawide for anything. It's just a ridiculous form factor that shouldn't even exist. Go for a nice 4K monitor or a nice 21:9 ultrawide if you really want something wider.

 

But in the end good HDR (which is basically supported with every newer AAA game anyway) will bring more immersion than any super-ultrawide will be able to.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
