Psu clicking when power button pressed

Toxic880

Hey!, I’m currently building my second pc, I’m quite new to this, and I’ve got a 1000 watt Psu called Corsair hx1000i and whenever I press the power button it makes and click noise and doesn’t boot the pc, and then flicking the power switch off and on resets it and does it again, I’ve got 2x1080s in there and an i7 7700k, I’m pretty sure all the wiring is correct, and all the way pushed in, although it doesn’t boot, when I press a button on the Psu the fan spins and also the mobo is lighting up, so the mobo is getting power,

anyone know a fix?

Are all the PSU cables the ones that were supplied with that unit?

Some clicking from the relays is normal. Does your motherboard have a dbug display or leds?

Idk, I can attach a picture of the mobo

Did you make it work?

Theres a dbug led on the top left which should light up during boot. you should check what code it stops at

I think you misunderstood me, my pc doesn’t boot at all, it’s just when I flick the switch on the Psu the lights on the motherboard turns on, butt it doesn’t boot and just makes a ‘click’ sound and doesn’t boot

Is that how it currently looks?

Doesn't look like the cpu cooler is in a functional state.

Can you post a picture how it *currently* looks while this problem occurs,  a bit brighter preferably,  its really dark in that picture.

I’ve got the pc working, buttt with a different Psu, so I think it must be the Psu and not the parts, I’ve got a picture of it working but obvs that won’t really help, I do have a video attached tho, and everything’s working, I just kinda want the Corsair Psu to work as that was a lotta money for an unfuncunal Psu, it doesn’t boot btw so I couldn’t really have a better picture as that the pc doesn’t actually boot on. I don’t really know if that helped or not.

What PSU? Is this your old one? Did the cables you're currently using come with the plugged in PSU or the HXi?

This is a new one I ordered, it isn’t modular tho, and I was using the cables that came with the Psu when I tried it.
