Did I just fry my 6900xt?

King_PIN

So uh...I'm a big dummy and did something I shouldn't have done.

I was bored and looking through 6900xt Overclocks and basically copied someone's settings in Adrenalin.

Started up Timespy and watched my AMD screen overlay.

Reached temps of 52ºC and then went to black screen and computer rebooted with no video.

I installed my old 780 got video no problem.

Booted to safe mode and used DDU to uninstall the AMD drivers and Adrenalin.

Rebooted and turned off safe mode, reinstalled 6900xt but still no video.

I don't have another computer to test the GPU on another system.

The card runs.  Fans and RGB lights up but no video.

Please spare me the idiot talk I already feel sick to my stomach right now.

Previous to this I had a brand new 2070ti last 1 day that my AC dripped water into and destroyed.

I just realized my old computer had some extra PCI-e cables and I was able to power the card but still black screen.

any idea what settings did you apply?

Power and voltage maxed out at 1.2v and +12% power limit.
Card consumes 380w at peak.
Max Frequency: 2800mhz
Memory: Fast Timing 2150mhz

hmm... idk but 1.2v sounds pretty high for a GPU

might've been fried for real, especially if it's no longer showing the bios screen

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

yes but it was only at 52ºC when it shut down.  Does that mean anything?

It's the MSI x trio if that means anything.

not a pro at this, so my comment may mean nothing at all

but a transistor doesnt need to be hot before it just dies if you put in too much current (or voltage without resistance)

If it will allow you to set 1.2 V in Adrenaline then how can it damage the card? When I had my 6800 XT I used to max everything in Adrenaline and it never did any harm. It used to crash if I set the frequency too high but never actually broke the card.

So I brought the card back to memory express to be tested and they got it running no problem on 2 different computers.

I have no idea WTF is going on.

Currently I have my old 780 in my computer and it's working no problem.

I did a complete uninstall with DDU in safe mode and I don't have any other tuning programs.

I also ran CCleaner registry cleaner.

Anything else I can try other than a whole new Windows install?

it could be remnants of the settings you applied messing with the card, since it's working on their pcs. At this point i think a quick windows reinstall might be the fastest way to do it

Yup.  I think that's the next move cause I really think somethings been wrong from the start. I posted this video in the GPU section a while ago.  It's even more apparent now that I am using my old 780 in my new computer.  Everything is so snappy regarding images.  Where with the 6900xt the computer just seemed like it was slow rendering images.

My old system. i7 4770k with a 780 GTX if I clicked on an image to open or if I opened my browser it would open instantly with no visual lag.

My new system 5950x with a 6900xt when I click on an image or open my browser it's almost like it fades in slowly.

Clear CMOS with the power PSU cables unplugged (or PSU switched off in the back) with whatever the method is for clearing CMOS on your computer.

If there is a button or jumper, short the jumper pins for 30 seconds.

Try connecting through HDMI after doing clear cmos and see if it boots.
