nw-700 constant hiss

gonzome

I have a neewer nw-700 using a neewer 1-Channel 48V Phantom Power with no mixer and anything else. I'm not too knowledgeable on microphones with only really basic understanding. It's been pretty annoying to deal with so any help or pointers to what I should do about it would be appreciated. I have windows boosting it by 10% and I've set it to 80 volume in the attached recording which is an example of the noise.

Could it be bad wires or should I get something like a mixer?

i can only hear it if my volume is set to 100% with headphones on so I think the real question is what are you doing that requires non achievable levels of hiss reduction

its pretty minimal even with my speaker at 100%, try speaking into it and the noise is def not hearable

if thats kind a big deal to you maybe use voicemeeter and use some sort of noise gate/gate plugin

The recording probably didn't do a justice, but the hiss is quite apparent in comparison to my voice. You can hear it very well in things like OBS. In any case, what could I do to have some sort of noise filter, a noise gate wouldn't help remove or at least tone it down. I've tried that with obs's filters. The reason it probably didn't sound all that much is that the normal volume of the mic is very low. The hiss only gets worse If I try to increase the volume.

It's much more apparent in other scenarios like when I'm using OBS. This recording probably didn't do a justice because I wasn't speaking. Its really there when you hear it alongside my voice. The reason it probably didn't sound all that much is that the normal volume of the mic is very low. The hiss only gets worse If I try to increase the volume.

1, That mic will hiss, it's a cheap mic
2, You really need to be using a preamp, simplest solution is an audio interface.
3, Read the guide in my sig for explanation

the easiest fix is using some sort of noise gate plugin on ethier obs it self or voicemeeter, what interface are you using?

most if not all audio interface have built in phantom power so those "phantom power adder" is kinda unnecessary

The mic in question requires phantom power, I bought a bundle which is the stand, mic, and the power supply which I named. That's all I have physically partnered with the mic. I've tried voice meter, but I can never really get it to get around the amount of hiss. It honestly may just be the mic, but I'm not 100% on the wires being all good.
