Does the Nvidia Shield Portable form factor still have a place in 2021?

Alight

One clear trend has been set in portable gaming (mobile, console, pc, etc), and that’s the tablet form factor. I came across my old shield portable and wondered why no one has tried to emulate the form factor?

Do y’all believe it has a place in 2021 or is tablet style the way to go moving forward?

There are controllers with a frame that holds your phone onto it (both android and iOS support controllers natively). Proprietary stuff like the NSP are replaced by these.

It’s a shame honestly, the all in one clamshell definitely has its charm to it

I thought it was pricey for what it is.

Nvidia shield was designed to deal with (encode/decode) h264/MP4 avc
It is essentially an optimised low latency video reciever.

Yes theres a place for it... But Its potential is measured in your connection to the host. (via latency)

I use it comfortably in my local network.
But never through the internet.
(unless you have a ping under 20ms on your 4/5g
