RGb cable extender to ARGB

lizart951

My motherboard came with 2 RGB cable extenders .I need one longer ARGB cable to connect to the motherboard.I have a few cooler master sickle flow fans and they came with a little 3 pin "converter" to change female to male .My idea is to use the converter and convert the 4 pin RGB extender to 3 pin ARGB .My through is that a cable is a cable i shouldn't matter if it 4 pin because the second pin on the cable will be covered by the missing pin on the converter (3 pin) and therefore empty. Is it safe to use it that way ?

...I will upload pictures later to better understand my idea but now it's wayyy to late in the night and I'm at work tomorrow morning...

You can't.

4-pin RGB is 12V, while 3-pin ARGB uses 5V.

Also...COMPLETELY different functions for each pin.

12V RGB 4-pins are: 12V -- G -- R -- B

5V ARGB 3-pins are: 5V -- N/C -- Data -- Ground

Well a cable is still a cable i don't think that RGB and ARGB cables are different on the inside.Insted of carrying 12 v it will carry 5 and insted of R and B it will carry Ground and Signal.

The cable is not the problem.

It's what is on the ends of the cables.

You try to plug a RGB item into an ARGB header?

Or ARGB item into an RGB header?

Say goodbye to either the motherboard, the (A)RGB header on the motherboard, the fan, or all of the above, as soon as you power it on.

ARGB device connected to RGB header = dead ARGB device
RGB device connected to ARGB header = blue color

ARGB device connected "the wrong way = lights go out till u turn it the right way

Stuff that cannot die from this: MB and fan
