Rog strix b450 yellow dram LED, no post.

Mobo: ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
Gpu: rtx 2070 super
Cpu: Ryzen 5 1600x
Ram: 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance RGB 3200mhz
Psu: 500w

-----

My boyfriend upgraded his PC and is giving me his old motherboard. He was running a 3700x in it and I'm now putting my 1600x in. We cleared the CMOS and tried 1 stick of ram in every slot but I'm still getting the yellow dram light. It was working perfectly fine for him. I just bought the ram today.

Do I need to update/back flash the bios even though he had the 3700x in it?

BIOS downgrade is most likely not going to fix your issues as that board has 16m rom and is not affected by limitations of 8m roms that some budget motherboards had. Try reseating the CPU and see if your rams work at his computer and his rams work in yours, also ask if he was running the latest bios as bios updates can increase ram compatibility.
