In simpler terms, sometime this morning Facebook took away the map telling the world’s computers how to find its various online properties. As a result, when one types Facebook.com into a web browser, the browser has no idea where to find Facebook.com, and so returns an error page.

It’s probably an employee’s mistake, looks like someone just got his ass fired 😅

Mark Zuckerberg is having a really bad day today. You can hear the sound of his net worth dropping from miles away. The FB Stock closes out today at a 4.89% loss.

Good I hope that man goes broke and lives the rest of  his life in an abandoned trailer park for destroying our society and stealing our data.

You know, facebook owns oculus now. I had to check, and yes, it does appear to be affecting oculus headsets. So if anyone here owns an oculus headset, congratulations, you now own a $1000 paperweight. Plus, all of the games you purchased through oculus are now inaccessible. So comment now how much money you have that's down the drain. This is the same problem that I have with buying an Xbox series X/S. If the servers ever go down for any reason, you can't use the console you paid $500+ for.

Routing's being fixed it looks like.  Facebook's web servers are starting to answer with an error page.

So all they are doing is scraping public info not really hard to do this is what happens when people don't set email and phone number as private

Nooo I was really kinda maybe rooting for the hackers (I think this is a hack not an outage) . It looked like for a while they had even locked the employees out of the building.

I was not rooting for the hackers. Again, I need communication with people. Instagram is my only source of that(other than email but no one checks that)
