WTF happened to my monitor?

da na

So this morning I was sitting at my desk, playing a game on my first monitor and watching a video on the second. I hear this loud pop, I just assume it's a gunshot in the game and think nothing of it. Then I look back over and something seems really off about my second monitor. It's a lot whiter than usual as if I am looking at it thru a sheet of wax paper. (Here's a photo split between the 2 monitors - it's a pretty clear difference. The two used to look near identical except for the left one being HDR and the right one not.)

I tested it with 3 different inputs on both HDMI ports and same result. However in its menus, on VGA, or on composite, it looks as it should. I assume a capacitor somewhere on the HDMI circuit went poof? Oh and the issue remains if you turn the monitor off and back on, tried that.

Any ideas on what could've happened? It's a Vizio M190VA (not the best out there plus near 20 years old, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the issue.)

Does the issue remain after the TV has been off for a long period of time? You might just need to open it up and see if a cap has gone - that can definitely result in a loud sound. It's only about 11 years old at the most, so not sure why a cap would have gone so soon.

Hmm, that's definitely a bit odd. Open it up and see if anything is obviously wrong.

As for the DOM - from what I saw online that model was released in 2010, but that could have been wrong. Not sure.
