Polaris card recognized but not Navi on the board - Please advise.

Hi, I'm running older board Asus M4A78-E that I have rx470 installed in it with no problems. Bought 5700xt but in no shape or form I'm able to boot with that GPU in. It will post to bios no problem but later just blank/black screen nothing. I've tried tweaking bios but there is not much I can find, other then pcie speed.

 

I'll be checking bios version but other then that, thoughts on what else I could look at?!

That old board uses legacy BIOS, AFAIK newer AMD cards only work with UEFI systems. 

 

Apparently a boot drive with "duet with refind" can present UEFI capabilities but it doesn't look trivial to set up.

He listed the old MB but he bought R7 5800X and it will not boots with the RX 470, but it work fine with the old MB.

Hi, thanks for reply. So bios flash didn't help. You think it could be the UEFI? Tried linux os as well, same behavior after post just blank screen...So you saying it might be just too new gpu for the mobo :)?
