RTX3080ti underperforming

Centurio

Good day,

I recently build my computer with the next components:

MB: MSI MPG Z590 GAMING CARBON WIFI
GPU: Gigabyte Geforce RTX 3080 Ti GAMING OC
CPU: Intel Core i7 11700K
RAM: Corsair 3600Mhz

For some reason my GPU is underperforming. It is showing around 30% less FPS than online benchmarks and youtube video's. (on the same settings)

2 games for example:

Warzone (max settings 1440p)
FPS avg: 125. GPU: 63C 63%. CPU: 48C 42%

Valorant: (optimal settings 1440p)

FPS avg: 221. GPU: 54C 35%. CPU: 40C 19%

When I look online for benchmarkts people get around 160-180 for Warzone and 250-350 for Valorant.

  • XMP enabled
  • Video card got 2 8 pin connectors instead of the split.
  • Played around with in game settings
  • Enabled High performance
  • Optimized NVIDIA control panel
  • Drivers are up to date
  • And more..

Can someone help me with this problem?

Do you have the exact same motherboard, RAM, GPU model? Same game drive, same OS setup, RAM speed, timings, same CPU power targets, GPU power targets and core/VRAM boost clocks? Exact same driver version, same chipset drivers, etc? There's a shitload of variables, comparing to online benches and YT vids is only ever going to put you in the ballpark, you can't expect those exact numbers.

It doesn't seem like there's any issue unless the fps numbers you're getting are actually impacting your gaming experience.

I, uh, agree... in general, but the gpu utilization seems weird...

That game is a resource hog... and they aren't even getting more fps than I did (it was around 170 max and 120fps locked no problem) with a 3070.

Something seems off for sure.

I'm wondering if its something with the RAM, maybe they only have one RAM stick or something?  Otherwise  its probably a settings thing, this game is *weird* the slightest change can have massive impact  (some settings have better performance on high than on low etc.. )

Whats the RAM situation exactly,  how many sticks / GBs?

And what power supply do you have?

As you noted at the end there, Warzone is a weird game. I have friends who play it, it's incredibly inconsistent across a decent array of rigs. No sense in chasing a zillion possibly imaginary trails trying to figure out why it won't run perfectly.

So compared to well built, well optimized titles the GPU usage looks off, for Warzone it's kinda shrug, Warzone be like that. So long as it's playable you're good 👍

@Zando Bob It indeed does not impact my gaming experience. But I find it strange my build is underperforming in every game. Valorant and Warzone where just 2 examples with the numbers, but is seems like this on other games too.

Also I would like the system to be future proof. And missing out on 30% of the performance does not seem right to me.

I see, I just thought its important to know,  but the hw seems pretty ok...

Well, what you can do is run 3DMark Firestrike test (the free one on steam,  nothing else) because its kinda likely your system works normally and it can be chalked up to bad game optimization/ unreliable youtube "benchmarks"... i mean you know how youtube got big, right? (hint: "real alien sightings" ...)

But if there's something wrong the firestrike test should show it.

My score on fire strike = 31602

It seems my setup is just below average. I think that settles it, there is no real performance issue.

Thank you all for your help!
