If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

The amount of tissues, lotions and socks that were sent is staggering, i did not expect so much people to share that filth publicly...

And yeah, some of them might have been messed up on purpose to troll, but common there are way to many of those in the video that at least someone was legit with their filth...

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

i use to have the second best link in the world here, but it died ;_; its a 404 now but it will always be here

If you want to review the PC case in the pic, the"Shedworks 1" let me know, I can finish it in fairly short order.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

This is a flashback to 1998. I didn't have a digital camera back in those stone ages so I did not get photos of most of my old systems. (This was taken with a film camera and placed on a Kodak PhotoCD.) I was a (and am) big fan of the Amiga and started with a second-hand A500 that got upgraded fairly well (But I didn't have a really good accelerator for it.) When I moved to an A2000 that came along my way, I transferred a lot of the stuff from the A500 to it (those two models shared a lot a of parts.)

I had the DKB Mini Mega Chip and the Super Denise chips so I had the full ECS Chipset for my computer. I was also running AmigaOS 3.1 and thankfully the KickStart ROM was the same for those two. I did have a Supra Turbo 28, a 28 mHz 68010 that had a passthrough sidecar connection for the A500. But if you removed it from the case and changed a jumper, it would work in the A2000's processor expansion slot.

Now for the A2000-specific stuff, I had an A2091 SCSI controller which is what I hooked my CD-ROM drive/burner into. I had an Individual Computers Buddah IDE Controller for my internal hard drives. There was a Zorro-II 8MB RAM expansion board and I know there were a couple of other board in there.

The display is through a DCTV--a device that allowed for higher color display than even the stock Amiga Chipset could handle before going to a RTG card. I even still have that image, which is still up on what remains of the Aminet archive.

Sadly I never got good photos of my later A4000/040 systems which I really loved. (Though I wish I had one of those really good accelerators instead of the stock 25 mHz 68040.)

Since my old 28bps Supra FAXModem is on here, this predates my network card that went into my later system. I did get a faster modem but I really loved this guy. That display gave me a lot of feedback on what was going on and I wish I had a faster version of this when I was still using an old-school phone modem.

And then there's the big old clunky, but reliable Amiga 1010 floppy drive...

Probably the most interesting solution to where do I put my speakers with my homemade cardboard custom speaker holder--a solution not doable with today's ultra-flat monitors but quite doable with a ginormous CRT.

Only because this vid was so enjoyable, my old setup and my old "playground" for your amusement.
* Worst part of the "laptop" setup is a HDD cooler underneath to cool the 1st gen intel I7, powered through bare-metal wire with gaffa tape to an ancient sunsystems client powerbrick xD

Bonus; notice the large CRT? 100watts 😄

My absolute nightmare of cable management. I managed to organize it so that

  • At least the cables don't interfere with raising or lowering of the desk.
  • I can also fully open the side panel of my tower by raising my desk, without having to move either the tower or the desk.
  • The cardboard boxes nearby are there so that my cat won't try yo rest inside the cable clutter.

I have both my work laptop and my gaming rig sharing the same set of peripherals.

  • Keyboards, mice, USB headphone/speaker amp, and microphone are shared through a USB 3.0 USB switch.
  • The monitors are connected with different inputs. I use the monitors' built-in buttons to choose either one of them.

My setup. Forgive the wire management, there are 3 computers (work laptop. personal gaming/dev rig, P4/Plex server) that are KVM'd/remoted to all the peripherals.
My rig has a 2080TI and i7-99. My partner bought/built the case / RGB components that are really annoying, so I keep the glass paned side against the wall and out of my eyes. The e machine sleeper has a 2070 and runs plex/P4/compilation (and VR when we have guests over.)

PC specs: Ryzen 5 3600XT, MSI GTX 980 4gb, 8x2gb 3200Mhz OLOy RAM, Asus Prime B350M-E, Gigabyte something 256gb SATA SSD, 1TB WD HDD.
The case is from an old Turbo XT I found at a dumpster, unfortunately the GPU was too big so I had to cut a hole in the top part. The keyboards are an IBM model M 1390639, an IBM model M50 and a Monroe 573A repurposed as a calculator. Everything else is generic except for the Samsung LCD screen. I had a better looking desk but it was too small.

this video/post made me realize i could spice my space up a LOT just by tiding things up a bit. this first pass was $0 spent. 2.5 hours of time

Before 85926966_preclean.thumb.jpg.8ebd9b2a088856f7dfab28edf3990d3a.jpg

After680945578_postclean.thumb.jpg.9d09d1123a8bbff3df5a9e37d332c9e4.jpg

yea. the reflectex in the window and window AC looks tacky but it works SOOO well at keeping the heat out! so. functionality before looks!

things that bug me:

1: Monitor mismatch Hight! omg!  i thought all vasa mounts had the same mounting point. well. the second monitor on the right i bought off craigslist doesn't even include a vasa mount! luckally i found an adapter online. still looks like crap. on top of that. the monitor isn't even 1080p like i thought. welp. that was a fat waste of money.

2: mouse pad. i plan to buy one of those full desk mouse pads. just haven't decided which yet. and waiting to get the budget. no office LTT. but the gamers nexus wireframe components one is kind of sick looking!

3: really showing 3rd world issues here. but EVGA. you make one UGLY ass card. its a beast with power. but.. that curvy RGB section and than you got the red ATI/early AMD style trim randomly on it. defiantly the ugliest RTX 3080 out there. its kind of like having an ugly child. its your child and it does great things! but winning beauty contests is not one of them.

Planned upgrades! (coming soon! ™)

1: power strip! i bought a power strip / cable tray to get the cables off the ground. apparently thats a linus no no.

2: shelf trim. i plan to get some decrative molding to put on the front side of the shelf

3: shelf LED. i have RGB LEDs i plan to hide behind the molding.

4: mouse pad as mentioned

Unplanned or maybe near future upgrades (money premitting)

1: ultra wide monitor. ditch 2 monitors and go with a single ultrawide!

2: move my 40 inch TV where the mic boom is (if ultra wide monitor is aquired)

3: secondary PC (likely a thin client) used independently for secondary uses such as game wiki/streaming/youtube wile gaming (plugged into 40 inch TV)

let the roasting commence!

I could NEVER handle anything covering parts of my screen so those giraffes would have to find another place

Also main monitor smaller than the others... why torture your eyes daily?

Dude ... upgrade your monitors to some bigger ones.  I'd put that 19-20" one on top of the black case at a slight angle and have a bigger 27-32" on the desk directly in front.

if you think it would be too big, you can just move the monitor back a few inches, there's lots of depth to that desk.

It makes a huge difference.

Well it's reasonable when you're not poor XD. I got the PC components in a trade and the Samsung from the trash.

That was a fun video...if you're still doing this, I'll throw my hat in with a personal/home office setup (I hardly ever game any more)...And I'm posting this because, well, I suck at cable management and deserve to be made fun of...also, yeah, I know, I'm a laptop peasant, but I need to be able to take my computer with me.

My setup is basically as follows:

- On the left is my personal Asus Rog Zephyrus G15 GA503QS (AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD)

- On the right I have my work Macbook Pro 2019 (intel chip, not going into much detail about that one since it's just a work machine)

- Monitor is an Asus Rog Strix Curved XG43VQ (I should have gone for the 49 inch instead of the 43 but it still is an absolute pleasure to use)

- Keyboard is a Razer Pro Type

- Mouse is a Razer Pro Click

- Microphone is a Razer Seiren Mini

- Webcam is a Logitech StreamCam

- Mat is a Razer Goliath

- Ugreen USB 3 hub is a cheap piece of crap I bought on amazon but I really need something better since my webcam sometimes makes my mouse lag and the cables are about 10-15 cm too short to go through my cable management so they're just hanging around. I really need to find a good one to connect my microphone, webcam, keyboard, and mouse to my 2 laptops

- There's a DisplayPort bidirectional switch so I can connect both laptops to my monitor

- I use a Quirklogic Papyr as my note taking tablet (I'm really trying to go full paperless)

- There's also a Canon multifunctional printer to the side for when I absolutely have to print/scan something

- My desk and chair are just basic Ikea stuff for now until I can afford a proper upgrade

P.S. I use arms for my laptops and monitor so I can lign up the displays correctly and easily access the fingerprint readers on both
