Zero idea about a PSU

hevi

Budget (including currency):  50€

Country: Latvia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gta V, CSGO, Apex

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hi everyone. So... I have a pretty bad pc rn and I want to maybe do some upgrading cause I'm sick of not playing over 60fps on games I want.

My current PC is :

i3 4160

MSI H81M-P33

8gb ram

400w no-name PSU

240gb ssd

Ive decided to go and buy a PSU, cause I have a 650 Ti boost 1GB lying around and I rather add a GPU than upgrade the CPU.

What can I get for my budget, if I even can? A CX550 is like 75 to 80€.

These are the marketplaces I prefer to buy anything PC related...

OR

I can get a USED

Be Quiet L8 CM 80+ Bronze 630w

for 55€, or a Gigabyte P550B(which ive seen is not good and meant for iGPU systems like mine now)

Should I take the risk on a used PSU?

If anyone has the free time to give any advice on the PSU's please and thank you.

What I advise is save up. Because all the options you have are well garbage. Pretty much probably equal chance of frying your system with a new garbage unit vs your old garbage unit.

Used psus i personally would do but i dont reccomend it unless you know what to search for

For a used psu search for one that has a 12v wattage that is ~100w lower than the psu wattage rating, so if there was a 700w psu with a 12v rail that has 55a (660w on 12v cause 12v x 55a = 660w) then id consider it a decent quality unit, if the 5v and 3.3v are above 20a then its prob either an old psu or a garbage psu (low 12v amps compared to psu rating)

Though you may be able to use your current psu with a molex/sata to 8pin pcie adapter, what is your current psus 12v rail amperage? Or atleast show us the back of the psu with the voltage and amperage table thingy

Worth it if you want a good PSU that will last through a few upgrades. It appears to be the cheapest good PSU I see on these sites.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I think your current psu is enough, 360w in 12v rail is good enough, not what id consider a decent unit but ok ish and should run your 650ti boost

Just use your current psu then once you upgrade the gpu and or cpu+board+ram you can also upgrade the psu

The problem is, that the PSU doesnt even HAVE a 6pin PCIE connector... Thats why im looking for a new PSU

Then just buy a sata/molex to 8 pin adapter

If you are really afraid of it catching fire then theres pretty much no other choice at that budget unless you wanna go used or get a crappy new psu
