Safe to Power Epyc 225 watt with Corsair SF750?

xxxuwumasterxxx

Hey all. I’ve been putting together a micro-ATX build with an Epyc 7742 and I am wondering about my PSU choice. Currently the plan is to use a Corsair SF750 power supply in the machine, which consists of a 225 watt CPU and a 205 watt GPU, however I am concerned as to whether or not this is safe.

While the build will clearly be under 750 watts, many comments lead me to suspect the quality of SFX form factor power supplies. However, I also see users who run this power supply in 3090 builds.

Thanks, any input is appreciated.

The math is simple, CPU + GPU + 50w for everything else + 100w for headroom.

High quality 750w will do just fine.

Of course it's "safe".  Why are you suspect of the quality of the most popular SFX power supply on the market?  Did you already try it and have issues?  If so, maybe you should post what happened.

No issues so far, I’ve been running it in a burner system for a couple days. I am used to server grade, redundant power supplies with a distributor board, etc. so using a single consumer grade power supply is nerve wracking 😞
