Fans running super loud for no reason

maverik11

Hi,

i just built a new PC and I cannot get the fans under control, they are so loud, it is almost impossible to be in the same room with it, even with lite loads like installing software or a steam game. I just started playing with the fan curves but haven’t gotten anywhere.

Here are the specs:

Ryzen 9 5900x

asrock x570 Phantom Gaming 4

32 gig RAM from corsair

MSI Rtx 3080

I used an Alpha cool Eisbär 280

With 2 Noctua A14 PPC 3000 PWM On it connected to one fan header via an y cable

2 more of the above fans separately connected directly in the case

thebcpu runs at under 60C on the desktop amd the fans already loud but bearable. Ideally I would want them not noticeable then.

Then you start an installation and they start ramping up like I were mining Bitcoin.

i appreciate any help with this situation.

thanks.

On a default system, the cpu high temp alert is 70c. This will put the cpu fans at 100% duty cycle.

Try manually adjusting your fan profile or alternatively try selecting the predefined silent profile in the bios. Good Luck!

You have x4 3000 RPM PPC fans in your system... It's going to be loud. Those are not the right fans for your application if noise is a concern.

You would be much better suited with something like the regular NF-A14 or the NF-F12/A12x25 (with 120 --> 140 mm adapter) for the radiator and the regular A14 or F12/A12/S12 for the case fans depending on size desired and how open your case is.

Those PPC fans will have to be turned WAY down via manual fan curve to be semi-quiet.

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

Thanks for all the help, With that information I changed my fan curve so it is very quiet when doing low key stuff. I did not realize that 3000RPM is twice as mauhc as "normal" fans for which the default curves were probably designed.
