Should I flash my vbios?

experiencednoob

I found a new vbios version of my card in techpowerup and was wondering if i could flash it even if i didnt get it in the manufacturers site.

reason for flashing: I've tried everything to fix my gpu from crashing ( I believe that when i updated my windows it messed up my gpu drivers too and everything went downhill from there, tried reinstalling windows and drivers and I think that may oc cards and the only temporary fix i found was installing old drivers w/o software and underclocking it. I don't really wanna rma it yet because I dont have any spare gpu.

If the card is not stable enough, there is a higher risk that the VBIOS flashing will fail and the card getting bricked.

No guarantee. It shouldn't affect the other BIOS but you never know.

If you RMA it,you will have to wait a few months in case they need to replace the card...

But,did you check your CPU/RAM?,because if your CPU/RAM is bad then crashes and other funky stuff can happen.

That update would not really help for your issue. It improves the speed from 12gbps to 14gbps.

If you still want to try, make sure the firmware is from the exact same card. I would recommend downloading from Sapphire's website instead of this. They also made a guide on updating it, which you should follow carefully.

You can try that if you want. I've had to RMA my Sapphire GPU too during shortage and they gave a refund which wasn't exactly fun. So there's a chance they refund which sucks at this time, but they can also fix or replace (latter probably not happening as they stopped making 5000 series earlier this year).

That's not what i meant,

Try testing the CPU with Prime95 with the Small FFTs option for a hour.

Try testing the RAM with Memtest86 for 3 hours.

Tell us if you get any errors while testing.
