Advice on new headphones

Victor-not-Igor

So, I am getting a new pair of headphones and found two options but Im not sure:

  • HD560s (I know I will need a mic for this one)
  • Or PC38X

I would rather not get a DAC or AMP so my MOBO chipset will have to do, its a Realtek ALC120A 7.1 in the B550M TUF (non wifi). Also technically, a MBP 2019, I know this is a PC forum but mention it in case they do make a difference in the MBP.

Knowing that, will there really be a hearing difference between the two??

They are similarly priced where I will be getting them, that's why I am little bit torn aside.

Or for about 150 US dollars what other audio set up do you recommend?

Also is it true that the HD559 are the PC38X without  a mic?

Mostly gaming, YT, Netflix, college clases, been thinking about getting Apple Music or some other form of Lossless audio streaming, but I wouldn't do it if these headphones wouldn't make a difference

The PC38X are better for your use case.

I think the 560 sounds way better for music and is not that bad for gaming either . But yeah you will have to buy a mic if a mic is necessary for your use case otherwise the pc 38x is pretty good has a decent mic . Pretty good for gaming I just don't think it sounds great for music.

You'll also need an amp to get the most out of them sadly.

Yes but these will run fine on a motherboard or a decent dongle dac.

If your gonna get an amp then choices really open up. At a $100. The magni3+, monoprice liquid spark, atom +. Magni 3+ being the easiest to recommend as a all-rounder.  Liquid spark I reccomend if your going to go with a beyerdynamic. Atom + I reccomend if your gonna get iems as well. I say stay away from topping ,smsl for the most part. Another good option is the zen dac as a DAC amp option but I only reccomend it for headphones you can run balanced.
