SSD speed flying to the roof ? NVMe not worth it anymore ?

It has no possibility to damage your RAM.

 

But there is a chance that if you lose power, any data in the cache that has yet to be written to disk may be lost. It's a low risk, but if you have important files, or frequent power loss you could consider getting a UPS or turning off the RAM cache.

Hello everyone ~ 
I have some question about SSD VS M.2 NVMe SSD

I bought recently Samsung 980 pro and it was bottlenecked by my PCIE 3.0 motherboard end up having 3GB as maximum reading/writing speeds and I believe I need new motherboard with PCIE 4.0 to fix the speed issue.
While playing around with Samsung Magician Software I pressed on my old Samsung 850 evo and selected RAPID Status ... Restarted my pc and went to test a different between 550mb/s to what would happen when selecting the RAPID mode.

Tested a game loading speeds different between both and the 850 evo was acting way faster on loading the game for a quick check but I didn't record.

Guess what ? 9GB/s reading - 10GB/s writing.

I was shocked is this normal ? my evo is 5 years old in good condition almost only used for storing files.

That is normal behavior.

 

Rapid Mode enables a RAM cache. If you check Task Manager, you'll notice a chunk of RAM in use. If you have plenty of RAM, then it's worth enabling, but it also invalidates tests like Crystal Disk Mark, since you are essentially testing your RAM speed and not your drive speed. Rapid Mode does not add nearly as much speed as Crystal Disk Mark indicates. It just so happens that the files that Crystal Disk Mark uses fit entirely, or almost entirely, into the RAM cache. This will not be the case for many real world situations.

You are right, I notice the different RAM usage now from before It was 6GB I think or less way less
Now it's holding 8GB RAM..

Is it safe ? would damage my RAMs if used for a long period ? or it's totally fine ?

Last question before doing something stupid, I was thinking to go grab Samsung 6TB SSD and Add 2 extra of the same RAM unit I have to reach 64GB so it have no effect for me while playing games on it if my thinking is right is it possible ? Cons/Pros?

I don't know of a 6TB Samsung drive. I think what you want to do is get a large SATA SSD and enable Rapid Mode for it. And then you want to add more RAM so that the cache doesn't take up too much space?

 

If that is all correct, there are a few problems with your logic. First, Rapid mode can only be enabled for a single drive at a time, so you'd have to choose which one to do. Second, I don't believe the cache size scales with the drive size in any meaningful way. 32GB would still be plenty. Finally, adding a second of the same exact kit of RAM should work. But it is not guaranteed to work. In the worst case, depending on when you bought the first kit, the actually memory ICs under the heat spreaders may actually be entirely different even if the SKU is identical. In the best case, even if you do get identical sticks, the XMP profile is validated for a single kit, and may need manual adjusting when adding a second kit. But like I said,  it might be fine. I don't think you need more RAM, though. 32GB is plenty for gaming, and should be for some time.
