Free video trim software

Tea-Sir
Go to solution Solved by Biohazard777,

Anyone know a little simple good free app for trimming videos?

I need something to just shorten down my gameplay videos.

I have tried the built in tool in Windows, but it takes my framerate down to 30 FPS from 60.

kdenlive

I'm pretty sure that would involve re-encoding, which would make the output slightly worse and would take far longer compared to Avidemux and LosslessCut.
But do correct me, maybe kdenlive has a feature to trim without re-encoding.

Wow didn't know of that one, pretty good as well! Lacks the ability to just join files in the timeline though, always use that in avidemux 😞

Yeah, that is a nice feature.
With LoselessCut you have to go to Tools -> Merge Files -> (select files) -> Merge! , then open up that merged file if you want to get the timeline. Clunky and not really the same thing...
That being said, the project is very much alive and the project owner actually has made a ticket about it himself heh:

Merge improvements

  • ...
  • Some kind of preview
  • Maybe combine with cut functionality so the the user can drag-drop additional segments into the timeline to include.

Not much progress regarding that enhancement since 2019... but at least he is aware. Maybe we should bump it on github 😄
