Terribly out of the loop and looking to upgrade!

wafflez

Hello everyone! I’m terribly out of the loop when it comes to PC hardware. I have no idea what’s the “best” anymore let alone any idea of where to even start. The last PC I built was sometime back in 2015. I still consider it a power house and it honestly never lets me down. Then again, I don’t really use it much anymore, at least for gaming…

Anyways, I was looking online because I was debating finally upgrading my PC or at least looking into it and I have no idea where to start so I was wondering if I could share my current specs and someone could help point me in the right direction for a build that would match my current one, but for today’s day and age, lol. 😅  Its been so long… I have no idea where to even start anymore 😂 I was also surprised to learn that SLI isn’t really relevant anymore.

Thanks in advance.

the "best" is several options, you end up around ~$3000 at least... and i say several cause that mostly depends if you want to go AMD or Intel.

As for "upgrading" I don't think this makes sense, almost everything you have will be incompatible or outdated.

Thing is, its still a good pc... but if you want something truly better (the best) you gonna need start from scratch, and that's during a time where next gen cpus are around the corner and gpus on an all time price hike...

Not impossible but it's going to be lots of $$$, and might be very well outdated within 1 year.

Basically this is like buying a ps4 6 months before ps5 comes out, ok for some people,  most will be like "why did no one tell me!!" however...

Something really basic, note I chose the cheapest Ampere GPU I saw, thats where you can easily add another 1000$ or so if you want something better...

Already a good pc and should last for quite awhile

Just upgrade to a better aio and overclock the cpu

I guess you could look into getting a better GPU, but I don't know how SLI's perform compared to the newer high end GPU's

Thank you all for the responses! I was just curious as to what a comparable PC build would look like using today’s top parts.
