Does anybody know what this service is and why it runs when opening some games?

I haven't downloaded anything recently or even been to any strange websites just gamed like normal than noticed this last night did a full windows virus scan to be sure, It said everything was clean, should i still be worried?

svchost is basically a windows process that runs for a number of different reasons, there could be dozens of them running at any given time doing any number of things from indexing to volume management to video processing etc.

is there away to locate where this file is stored just to be sure this is a microsoft process ?

It's a mask for various processes, but if you want to find the svchost.exe file it's located in C:\Windows iirc.

Taskmanager> right click on process > open file Location

Yeah, but why is it in the sound mixer? That isn't normal at all, maybe a specific game?

Windows sounds and the like I believe trigger it.

Hmm, I don't know, I never saw this (its just called "system sounds"?)

Only by removing whatever triggers it. 

Might be discord... disable discord, restart pc, make sure discord isn't running,  check if the process is still there...

I mean it could be any number of things from the HyperX audio service to Discord to anything else running that could trigger sounds.

It runs as Service Host: [stuff]

It always points to: C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe

it should be there... (like 100%, windows can't run without this process afaik)
