Replacing the hard drive in an Xbox 360 - is cloning possible?

BondiBlue

I have a nice Xbox 360 S that I bought used some time in 2011 or 2012, and I'd like to play some games on it. However, the hard drive is failing. I don't know much about the hard drive in the Xbox 360 in regards to formatting and whatnot. Would it be possible to clone the existing drive over to a new drive? The current drive works, but it's been failing for a long time, and I need to go ahead and replace it before I lose everything on it.

Unfortunately, when it comes to HHD's, a severe noise problem is a tried and true indication of an impending hard drive failure.  Time to back it up (if possible) and replace it.

You might be able to purchase a cheap set of hex-head screwdrivers from you local hardware store.  When I needed to cross that bridge, I went to my local Tractor Supply store and was able to come home with a 32 piece precision screwdriver set.  It has a total of 30 bits in this little kit and I don't think I paid more than about $15-$20 for it.  Check out their website, you may be able to find something that will help.  I am located in northern California so I can't vouch for what you can/can not get in Canada, but it doesn't cost you to look.  The set I got has Slotted, Phillips, Hex, and Torx bits in it along with something called Pozi (don't know what screwhead that looks like).  The set also includes a ratchet precision screwdriver handle and a 190mm flexible extension bar.  Good Luck
