A question with sys_fan headers on motherboard

So from my understanding is if I don't plan on tuning the fans speed and my fans light isn't ARGB, The fans doesn't need to be plugged on the motherboard, is this right? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

unless your fan has additional power it gets from like a Molex connector,  you will need to plug it in to receive power to turn on.
