Fan speed based on coolant temperature

Devryd

Hi
I am running a custom loop with a gtx 1070 and a r7 3800x. Is there a way to regulate my fan speed on the radiaors based on the coolant temperature?
Obviously i would need a temp sensor for that, but do I need anything else?
Can I connect such a sensor to my mainboard?

I hope you can help me

some Motherboards have a temp sensor spot, most dont. I use a temp sensor with my Corsair XD5 pump and have it plugged into one of my inlet ports on the res and read through my Commander Pro and its how i control my fans.

The motherboard doesn't have a temp header. You need an external device for monitoring temps. I use a Corsair commander pro. As an alternative check out aquacomputer Quadro

Does it only do PWM fans?
I use 3 dc and 1 PWM fan.

All the headers on the Corsair commander are 4 pin pwn, not sure about it but I think it should work with 3 pin fans. The commander comes with 4 external temp sensors that can be used the by slotting in-between the fins of the rads. The difference between that and the water temp shouldn't be more that 2-3 degrees, but the temp rising curve should be the same. You have to use Corsair icue which is far from the best piece of software out there. Hope you understand , English is not my first language

@Devryd - sorry to chime in late to this thread. With the Commander Pro, can set each fan port to 4-pin, 3-pin or Auto so yes, it'll work fine with 3-pin fans.
