Oh my god....... it's happening....

Edit: After watching the video , it appears Stefan admits his mistakes , and explains that at the time he was given very bad advice by the Verge to not back down from the criticism. And supposedly due to existing contracts he couldn't actually do this collab until now. So makes sense I guess.

This is what he/The Verge should have done back when, instead of sulking and trying to abuse the copyright strike system to suppress criticism: do a collab video with Linus, or Jay or Kyle or somebody at that level, take their lumps, poke fun at themselves.

Still, even if it's way too late, it's a nice idea, and I couldn't help feeling somewhat bad for the guy when Timmy Joe did the "where are they now?" video on this a few months ago. He clearly got put in a bad position by his superiors.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Not sure what you're trying to say. I liked Timmy Joe, he had a unique style among the mid-level PC YouTubers, and I was sorry to see him quit YT, but given his recent personal issues and the downturn of the entire PC YT space I can understand why a cushy 9-to-5 was too tempting to pass up.

To be fair, while this is a dead horse, the build wasn't exactly his fault.   Nobody corrected him at the studio.   They just rolled with it, and posted it without checking first.   They also kind of just dumped all the blame on him, and used rather illogical deflection too.   Like, they made it out to be completely all his fault then claimed that people judging the video were racist.

This, sure he said some stupid shit in his streams but I'm not going to put the entire fault on him either as I can't imagine the amount of hate he was getting from everyone for the original build you kind of just vent without thinking after a while.

I’m glad that there is some kind of closure with this video. I feel bad for Stefan, even though he screwed up he didn’t deserve all the hate he got. Hopefully he can move on with his career from this.

Pretty much. It's obvious neither he nor anybody else in the decision-making chain had the knowledge to do that video properly, and even if he realized it he obviously didn't feel he could refuse or push back. I also don't doubt that some of the "criticism" he received was racist and beyond the pale, so I will cut him some slack on some of the defensive stuff he said in the aftermath. I put way more blame on The Verge for how they handled the situation. They puked out a bad video, let Stefan be the face of the debacle when he was probably doing little more than following a script, and then attacked the livelihood of their critics and only succeeded in Streisand Effect-ing the whole thing.

I don't think the i7-8700K from the paid links is a good combination with the other components of the "paid links" system, as it's an LGA 1151 CPU and the board an 1200 socket.

Man...

This is absolutely a dead horse but let the guy have his redemption arc. At least he's putting himself in a position where he's making it clear he's atoning for the things that were actually his mistake, and trying to set the record straight.

If you want to talk about dead horses, how about the people who've been trolling this Twitter feed to this day?

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

As for the racism, I don't know if that was ever confirmed or not.   I just remember the one head at the verge said something that people were just being racist and making death threats without proof.

I don't doubt it for a moment. Bottom-feeders come out any time a non-white person does something poorly in public (or, conversely, too well), and some nut on the internet will be upset enough to send death threats about almost any given subject. That isn't to say that because such deplorable behavior is commonplace that anybody should have to put up with it. At the same time, it shouldn't be used as an excuse to dismiss the substantive criticisms made of the video.

Why no???

That story is like 2 years old. Is this meme still going?

It's actually 3 years old, the original Verge vid was in September 2018.

But yes, kind of. People are still making the same tired "tweezer" jokes and trolling the guy's Twitter account.

Didn't Linus even offered this publicly during wan show back then?

I couldn't say. Even if Stefan wanted to do it back then though, it probably wasn't his decision to make.

I haven't been able to actually watch the LTT video yet, just browsing the forum while sitting on phone calls, but that makes (unfortunate) sense.

Setting aside The Verge thing for a moment, this is a cool video in general. Linus makes for a fantastic teacher.

Learning about some of the behind-the-scenes with that Verge build video kind of confirms my original thoughts that they kind of thrown Stephan under the bus.

My eyes see the past…

My camera lens sees the present…

Certainly wasn't expecting this! Only just started the video, so far so good.

EDIT -

Stefan seems like a nice and down to earth kind of guy. And I loved the bit at the end when he's poking fun at him for the "Hexa core CPU, that's right we've got one!" 🤣

Enjoyed this more than the basketball one from a few days ago.
