Would it be worth it to use a VPN with my PS5?

Renton577

So I have a PS5 and I live in an apartment with open internet. I was wondering if I really need a VPN for it. The only way I can run it would be to route a wired connection from the PS5 to a spare laptop I have which would share the WiFi with the Ethernet port but at that point I wonder if that might cause some issues with my connection when it comes to latency and just stability and NAT restriction. Any thoughts?

For a console, I don't see the benefit of using a VPN. All this will do is increase latency and decrease performance. IMO, no need to run a VPN on a ps5!

Make sure to quote my reply so I get a notification!

Thanks for the response, that’s kinda what I was thinking too especially since it seems like most sensitive traffic would be run through the PSN servers so I don’t really think I need to worry about any potential snoopers on the apartments WiFi when it comes to consoles.

Maybe OP plays "questionable" games that they wouldn't want other people finding out about 😛
