Auto focus is where the computer focuses on the object itself. Right?

yup

26 minutes ago, Agena_ said:

But is manual focus where you tap the screen where you want it to be focused? (Like a phone?)

Nope, thats still autofocus. Manual focus is when you turn the focus ring on the lens to set focus

27 minutes ago, Agena_ said:

So does every camera have the same manual focus?  Does it work the same?

Manual focus is lens not camera specific. Some make it easier or harder than others.

Got it.

I'm thinking of getting "Nikon D3500 DSLR Camera with AF-P DX 18-55mm VR Lens"

(It's on argos)

But what I see if the lens in the image doesn't have a manual switch? Do I need one, or is it good to have it for my purpose of recording. (Fast objects cars, and normal family recording stuff)

So about manual focus.

(Correct me if I'm wrong)

Its all about the lens.

So does it even matter which camera I have? And it all matters on the lens

Am I right?

Yup manual focus is all in the lens.

the body can help if it has things like focus peaking( i don't think the d3500 does)

some lenses allow better manual af.

but id just get a camera with good video af for general use, much easier than doing it manually. Canon is normally better, esp for the newer dslrs.

There are a good amount of youtube videos going over the d3500, but it isn't great for video it seems. I haven't used one before so can't comment.

Ok. Doing some research.

1) Is it true that mirrorless are better for videos?

So are dslr better for pictures (or both the same)

2) my 2 options are. The canon t7i and the Sony a6000.

A dslr and mirroless. Should I get the a6000?

1. Depends on the model, but the mirror part of a dslr isn't used in video, so its bsiclly work as a mirrorless.

2. What lenses would you get with each? Both are pretty simmilar. Id probably go with the t7i as its bigger, but the a6000 is pretty good too. Lens selection is good for both too.

Sorry didn't fully understand, so are you saying pictures is the same between dslr and mirrorless.

And secondly is the statement true - that mirrorless are better in video? (Generally)

(Would the a6000 have better video than the t7i?)

DSLRs have 2 modes, live view where the mirror is always up, and normal with the mirror down. When the mirror is up, it basically works the same as mirrorless.

Video is gonna be pretty similar. Here is a comparison. https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr29_0=sony_a6000&attr29_1=canon_eos800d&attr72_0=1080&attr72_1=1080&normalization=full&widget=200&x=-0.06133683916803648&y=-0.13460471567267682

You won't notice the quality difference between them. Id pick the one with the design/grip you want, and which one has the better lens.

Pretty good camera. You get 4k recording which can be nice.

Id place them all as simmilar. Really depends on what you want in a camera. what type of grip you want. what type of view finder you want.

id really try to get a hands on, as it you can get a fell for different cameras.

over the A6000 every day. T7i they are closer, they'll feel very different in the hand and mattering on what you focus on you may like one over the other.

over the sony, Panasonic has better out of color cameras and is easier to color grade for video. sony SLOG sucks to work with and it won't look good with the information in the recording.

So its T71 vs G7

are you saying the g7 is better just because of the 4k?

Ok then I'll go for the g7 if it's better than the other 2

The g7 has got 4k which is a good feature, but I don't think I'll ever use it.

I'll see if I find any good deals on the g7

Is the g7 and g70 the same? (One 1 website it says that the g70 is German version?) Can't find anything else.

Do you know?

Also looking at spec wise. The g7 seems weaker?

it's got lower megapixels, and only 350 shots on battery life. Does that make a big difference?Screenshot_20210901-220536_Brave.thumb.jpg.c3fcd19c6b8c63ca0842df660b662934.jpg

I didn't say it was better. theres just a few features on it I prefer more. The canons also got advantages, like more lenses and often cheaper given they are used. It does have more resolution and canons colors are also great.

I updated my previous post with the comparison. The g7 had less battery life and less megapixels

I'm in the UK. I'm looking at MPB. I want to buy from a official used site.

Mega pixels won't matter unless your doing big prints. Your screen is probalby only 2-8 megapixels, so all of these are way more than your display.

ALl mirrorless cameras have worse battery life. Video battery life will be much closer
