Friends Mobo Temps exceed 110C on idle

same reading across OCCT, no BIOS tweaks just stock. computer is more than 3-4 years old. keep in mind this is IDLE. changing voltage in BIOS to 1.100 from 1.2750V shows motherboard at similar temperatures.

try updating your HWinfo, 6.24 is very out of date.

specs are FX 6300 RX 560 + 760GM HDV. from a cyberpower prebuilt so we can guess psu isnt great either

I see the CPU is an older FX, so it could also just be a sensor misreading.

It definitely seems like a sensor misreading, just googling the board and the word temps pulls up multiple posts about the same problem.

Most people are sticking with v6.24 as v7.0+ takes out a few things from the free version (can't remember what).

 

Though this seems like a sensor misreading to me.

just had him touch it and *feel* for the warmth. didnt hear him scream in pain so i guess its alright. when im setting up his ssd soon i might bring a thermapen

There’s nothing wrong with anything other than the temperature sensors. They’re a super common point of failure on older boards, especially on older FX stuff.

 

But please, no, touch the actively running VRM on a motherboard, shock yourself to death, that’s a great idea

It’s not like the cpu power delivery is running at like 30 amps on idle or anything dangerous like that
