Mechanical Keyboard Kit - Metal Plate question

Go to solution Solved by seon123,

Did you try screwing in from under the PCB, into the plate?

Hello everyone.

I've decided to get into mechanical keyboards and I wanted to try and build by own 60%. So i bought this kit: Aluminium Case Cnc Plaat Pcb GK61 GK61x GK61xs Rgb Hot Swap Onafhankelijke Driver Tyce C Ansi Mechanische Toetsenbord Diy kit|Keyboards| - AliExpress

It seems like all of the other GK61XS kits, however when I tried to assemble it, it seems like the metal plate that should mount onto the PCB is missing some holes. They're covered up by metal but the underside has the stems for the screws. Screws also come with it. although they do seem a bit on the short side. All of the video's i've found that the plate was already mounted onto the PCB and the pictures on the kit also suggest there should be holes. Did they just forget to do drill these holes or am I doing something wrong?

I'm sorry to say but thats the precision (rather lack of) you can expect from those chinese cheap sites.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

From what I can find your metal plate differs a little bit on the left where there should be 2 more holes.

There we go, weird that I couldn't find any other of the GK61XS that mounted this way. Feel a bit like an idiot that I didn't figure it out sooner. Thanks for the advice.

So here it is, in full working order. Kailh Box Pink switches with some random keycaps. Gotta say I love the look. Low profile with that sturdy aluminum brown coffee case.
