router Strong router/AP for outside

Hello, my boss has an outside gate away from his house where he has a wifi camera system and a remote gate opener that he needs a strong router or AP for.

 

The problem is he has a barn with metal in its frame that he believes is interfering with the signal giving him heavily intermittent service beyond the barn.

 

Are there any devices any if you could recommend for his situation?

Off the top of my head I thought maybe he could use some kind of beam devices to send a straight line connection from device to device as opposed to a wide area signal that keeps getting sapped by the metal framework.

Yes. You'd also need clear line-of-sight for a directional antenna.

 

If you were to mount an antenna on the external wall pointed toward the gate, would the barn be in the way?
