3 sticks in single channel or 2 in dual channel?

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

If you run 3 sticks, you'll have 16GB running in dual channel and the remaining 8GB in single channel, not all of them running single.

Long story short I had 4 sticks of RAM in my build and one died. My question is would it be better to run 2 of the sticks, total of 16GB, in duel channel mode or run all 3 working sticks, 24GB total, in single channel? Alternatively am I incorrect in assuming that by having a third stick in slot B1 or B2 it would cause the sticks in slot A1 and A2 to run in single channel?

Good to know that's how this works, I was unsure.
