What the most fun/rewarding techie project you've done?

What project have you all enjoyed doing most as a techie hobby?

I've had a lot of fun helping friends/family build PCs and teaching them how to solder on a little radio kit.

I'm thinking of getting into voice recording to do some pro-bono work reading some book chapters for Librox.

Much love all.

Cheers!

Last year I did a genetic algorithm implementation that was lightweight enough to run on a STM32 along with a display in order to solve the 8 queens problem, it was a pretty cool weekend project.

I made a writeup here: https://igor.mp/blog/2020/06/17/genetic-embedded.html

I bullt a homelab after my webhost shutdown and my isp offers free static IPs. I now host my own cloud, music streaming, website, email, and such. Really the only thing I don't replace is Youtube.

I even host a dialup ISP for a weather monitoring setup I manage for a few farmers.

No I don't work in IT, I have no interest in the professional field.

I don't have a lot to say but I guess proving people at the tech store multiple times felt rewarding

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Please try searching up the answer before you post here but I am always glad to help

I love doing small hobby electronics projects such as radios, etc, I've built speakers and a variable voltage/amperage power supply I use for testing circuits from kits. It always feels good to solder something and then actually use it, knowing you made it.

I used to work in CNC and when contracted business was slow the facility took on smaller jobs, and I got assigned to making support brackets and racks for a partial Cray A1 computer restoration for the computer museum of America, and I quite enjoyed working on that project and being a part of that restoration on some level, I went down to Georgia some years ago to see the finished re-assembly in person, and upon explaining why I was there to the guide he let me open up a few of the racks to talk about the machining process for a lot of the parts which I created for it, including one which had the order number and my name imprinted on it.

Just a little part of a bigger thing but it was super cool to see.
