Faulty ram slot laptop

Hi, I have a laptop which ram slot has started causing some problems. If I push the ram towards the motherboard it work. My fix was therefore to roll upp a bunch of electric tape put it on the ram. Then the force of the case pushes the ram so the computer works.

The coputer still turns it self of sometimes when i move it, I think it´s because the case or tape gives out so the ram looses contact.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Is vhb taping it to the motherboard a bad idea?

Very likely the solder joints holding the RAM slot to the board have failed or are failing. Some Thinkpads are notorious for this but I'm sure there are other laptops. The only way to fix it is to reflow the solder joints, and if you don't have experience with this, don't even try. Any competent repair shop should be able to do this for you in like 5 minutes.

Considering how simple of a fix it is (if you find someone who has experience with this soldering; shouldn't be too hard), I wouldn't do it.

Would this be visable?(since i could´nt see anything abviously wrong doing my tape fix)

I have no experience with soldering so might have someone else look at it then.

Possibly with a microscope and good eyes. But that really sounds like the issue here.
