Hitting power limit what to do?

Overclocked card wont crash due to power limit, it will throttle down until it is not power limited. Your card is unstable. As for reliability, I use 3dmark or unigine heaven benchmark.

I'm currently overclocking my friends msi 1060 6g and I'm at +163 core clock, if I go any higher, my benchmarks crash, I'm guessing it's due to power limit cause the power limit is 116 and furmark is bouncing between 113 and 116 on tdp, should I just stick with my overclock on core or down it a bit to increase memory clock aswell?

 

Also just a off-topic thing, does the artifact scanner on msi kombuster work reliably?

you should try upping the voltage a little bit. also use GPU Z to determine the limiting factor of the oc

I'm honestly scared of voltage tuning, I haven't experimented with it yet so I'm unsure on what the complete safe way to do it is

enable it in msi afterburner and but a little bit more of voltage. but first iwould use GPU Z graphs while benching the gu to see what is imiting it

Unless you can replace your friends card or foot the replacement bill, I'd strongly suggest avoiding this whole endeavour...

You have to bare in mind that something could go wrong. That is unless they're also totally aware of the risks.
