Anyone else have Steam update always *twice* in quick succession?

Mark Kaine

like literally 5 minutes after a client update ill get a popup again "steam has downloaded a new client update… blah, blah, blah…" and then it updates again, so annoying.

just wondering if this happens to anyone else? maybe we could write our lord and DRM god Gaben and he will fucking fix it? lmao

Sometimes I do have this "didn't you just update?" moment, but not very often. Do you have beta updates enabled? Maybe it's something incremental (don't know if Steam does this) or it just failed silently the first time.

Is there enough disk space left (probably yes) and do you allow it to exit gracefully? I have heard of it redoing it if you e.g. kill the process or hard shutdown instead of giving it a clean exit. Otherwise I'm not sure why it would always do this for you.

Im not sure what this is about, but it could be something …

Just to be clear i get a "pop up" asking me if i want to restart steam - yes or no…

so maybe thats whats bugging out.

Like if you shutdown Steam do you do right click > Exit Steam or do you force-kill it through something like task manager or "shutdown anyway". That could mess up it's bookkeeping of whether the update has been applied.

There is a Steam pop up asking:

"STEAM HAS DOWNLOADED A NEW CLIENT UPDATE , DO YOU WANT TO RESTART TO INSTALL IT? YES / LATER"

So i obviously click yes…

I am now more baffled you dont get this super annoying pop up, maybe theres a way to turn it OFF?

PS: I would also never right click (huh?) to turn steam off, i left click the symbol then restart or exit…
