I am thinking of upgrading to an i5-8600k but...

me201

...i dont know if my psu can handle it, i currently have a gtx 1650 GIGABYTE 4gb itx, GIGABYTE h310m s2h, a DUST 500w power supply, 240gb PNY ssd and 1Tb OF HDD, 8gb ddr4 ram and an i3-8100. i m planning on upgrading to the i5-8600k (not overclocking it) and adding an 8gb stick of ram. and should i upgrade the cpu cooler too, it s an AEROCOOL air frost plus (here's the link for the cooler: https://aerocool.io/product/air-frost-plus/ ) (repost).

Yeah it can handle it

System PSU Limitation (W): 300

Wattage is far from the only consideration that should be made regarding whether or not a PSU can handle the system, or more likely, whether it should

@me201That PSU seems to be absolute garbage and I wouldn't trust it with this system.

if you aren't overclocking, dont get the K-version of the CPU. its not worth it unless overclocking.

Dust 500w will turn the system into dust. It's a garbage PSU and with 16A at 12v it's far from 500w. Replace it.

A K cpu on a motherboard with crappy VRM is a bad Idea.

Edit: another thread with the same psu

well in my country, the 8600k is somehow almost half the price of the 8600 non k, it s even slightly cheaper than i5-9400f. that s why i m getting it.

a DUST 500w power supply

Assuming the model is ATX-500W it doesn't mean it is 500W PSU. It is maximum of 250W. What's with people wanting to use or using the absolute cheapest junk PSU they can find. A well kept hamster is probably a more stable power supply that these. Only thing I'd trust them with is powering few metres of LED strips.
