Please help me understand the price difference between these two laptops

The first one is $50 more than the second one and I’m just trying to figure out why.  I think the specs are exactly the same.  The CPUs have the same name, but the cheaper one says it’s Tiger Lake and the more expensive one says Ice Lake.

 

EDIT: I meant to say the first one is $50 less than the second.

Looks the same to me.  Paying $50 more for a black body.

Ice Lake is Intel's 10th gen mobile line, while Tiger Lake is 11th gen. Tiger Lake is better.

 

Interestingly, they're both listed as 11th gen, though. Where did you see Ice Lake and on which model?

I see.  I think the specs are just listed wrong, because they both say 11th gen even though one is Ice Lake.

When I clicked specs and scrolled down to CPU it said Ice Lake.  I’m confused as to why the Ice Lake one is more expensive.  Could it just be the black body like the other guy said?

Huh?  If anything the wording of Tiger and Ice are incorrect.  Listing wrong specs is a much bigger issue.

Look up the models on Acer's site, for example:

I don’t have an issue with anything.  I’m just trying to figure out if there’s a mistake in the specs.

Since no one here can possibly know if the specs or the wording is incorrect, what do you want?

 

I WAGER the wording of Ice Lake is wrong, as the specs match the model number which match Acer's website.

 

But again, I can't know for sure.

I mistakenly said in the original post that the first model is $50 more than the second.  I meant to say it’s $50 less than the second.  I’m confused by this because the first one appears to be the better model.

I’d wager you’re correct.  However, let’s say the more expensive model was Ice Lake and the cheaper one was Tiger Lake… Can you understand why I might feel the price difference doesn’t make sense?

More likely than not the specs on Newegg are wrong with "Ice Lake". Acer might have just refreshed an existing model, and they just changed the existing product listing and missed that. Happens all the time. $50 is a throwaway amount. Manufacturers are not always consistent with their pricing across different lines, so the bill of materials may have been slightly higher for one than the other or they have have just price them that way independently for no good reason. That also happens all the time.

 

If it was hundreds of dollars, it might be more questionable, but $50 is a reasonable amount of variance between lines given the same specs.
