How much is too hot for a pretty old GPU?

Constellation

so, i gave my SFF PC a little bit of an upgrade. That update included a pretty old GPU, it was an AMD Radeon HD 8490 1GB low profile, it works somewhat well i guess, it gave me just the little push that i actually needed long ago, however, after a long time of searching, i can't seem to find any info about the maximum temp on this GPU whatsoever, i kept looking everywhere, but i had no luck. all i saw was max temps for other similar AMD GPUs that were almost as old as the one i got. by the way, i'm running Far Cry 3 at (74C~) or so, Tomb Raider was running at (76C~). so i had to know if that's a bit too much. also the GPU fan isn't making a whole lotta noise, like there's some, but it's not so noticable.

thank you so much for your time! peace!

well actually i considered that, it wouldn't take much time really and it would help a little with the whole temp thing. i heard that toothpaste is a great alternative solution to thermal paste, is it tho?

Those temps aren't too bad. You can repaste it if you want to, but you don't have to worry.

Well, try using some monitoring software like MSI Afterburner to test if your GPU thermal throttled in any way during gaming or stress test. In a general rule of thumb, The max temperature for a GPU is about 95c. Some would have 105c before the GPU cut itself off.

Radeon HD8490 won't produce a lot of heat, so you don't really need to worry about thermals. What you really need to worry is dust on the heat sink and fans. Having it clean regularly should make it perform optimally.
