Is 750w good enough for 3080 and 10700k

i have a 10700k oc'd to 5.1ghz all core at 1.315 volts and im wandering if my Rm750x will handle a 3080 i also have 4ssd's and 1 hard drive 

Main:

  • CPU
    10700k 5ghz All core 47 ring ratio 1.275v
  • Motherboard
    MSI Z590 A Pro
  • RAM
    4x8 viper steel samsung bdie: 4200-17-17-30
  • GPU
    Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming Oc
  • Case
    O11 air mini
  • Storage
    970 Evo Plus 500gb OS, Sn550 1tb, 860 evo 500gb, 2tb MX500
  • PSU
    RM750x (2018)
  • Display(s)
    Acer Nitro vg272up, Kogan 24 1080 120hz
  • Cooling
    arctic 280aio, EK M.2 NVMe Heatsink on 970 evo plus
     
    Second: 
    Cpu: i5-8400
    Cooling: ID-Cooling Frostflow 120x
    Ram: 2x8gb 2666 c16 hyperx fury, tuned the absolute balls out of it but def not stehble.
    Mobo: Asus Prime H310M-K
    Gpu: Igpu
    Case: Coolermaster MB311L

It’ll be close. 750x is a good PSU, very good ripple control as it has caps at the end of each plug, those caps may be the saving grace that helps reduce voltage spikes from the 3080 load.

 

Only 1 way to find out tho. Lol.

At stock this config is already on the edge of working but it's a lot better after nvidia fixed the power spiking. Also depends on the 3080 as the higher end models do seem to trip psu's more than reference ones and such.

If you were going to be buying a PSU, I'd recommend getting at least an 850w unit. However, since you already have the unit, it can't hurt to try. It's a good enough PSU that if it can't handle the power, OCP with kick in and stop anything from being killed. 750w is very borderline for this scenario, but it's possible that it might work.

Assuming you don't flash or power mod the 3080, you will probably be OK. 

 

You could definitely induce a power overdraw if you do.

 

Not a lot of headroom there though.

It'll work fine as long as you don't increase the power limit beyond 100%.
