Browser extension use on system resources in 2021

My advice? Setup the extensions you need rarely so that they can only run if you press on them or disable them entirely and only run them when needed.

Furthermore - I'd advise everybody who're having a slow experience to mitigate it by enabling a few flags under edge://flags or chrome://flags

This is the bare minimum that I use to aid my browsing experience.

I use firefox and it seems to handle addon resources better from tests I've seen. That and addons have more control in firefox like for example Ublock Origin can block any add whereas on chrome it is limited due to google. Might be related to the lesser impact on resources.

I have about 31 extensions installed, and I don't notice any substantial performance issues. What you should be aware of is extensions that add something to websites (thus injecting code), in my case I don't have much.

🙂
