"Nofan’s new fanless CPU cooler has 62 feet of heatpipes"

Symbolizer21

Doesn't get more silent than this :P

~$70

"The cooler is compatible with Intel sockets 1150, 1155, and 1156. You can position it on top of a Core i3 or i5, but not a Core i7 according to Nofan. If you prefer AMD, then the supported sockets are FM1, FM2, AM3, AM3+, AM2, and AM2+. So APUs, Phenom II, Athlon II, and Sempron chips will be cooled by it."

the zalman fanless CPU coolers suck. Much worse temperatures than the stock intel heatsinks.

in fact it's practically impossible to get a good fanless CPU coolers for powerful desktop CPUs like that. Just go for something with a really quiet low RPM fan.

Get a large air cooler (NH-D14) and see if it will run passively. I know it will work with older Celerons and Pentiums (G2120 is the one I have), and the G3220 is Haswell-based, so it has much less heat output.

It probably would cool a bit better with a fan as it adds more active airflow however It would probably be no where near to efficient.

this pretty much sums it up. Until we get super efficient performance chips, these coolers won't be viable to those who do more than Facebook and YouTube.

I heard of this brand acouple of years ago - I was sorta surprised when linus was building his wife's pc to be the most silent he didnt use one of these

I would really be interested if it is possible to run a decent computer without fans since power management has improved since linus tried

@LinusTech ?

Its all about those volumetric clouds

A well positioned exhaust with a 140 on the back and dual 140s in the top plus dual 120s or 140s front intakes would mean you'd get plenty of airflow on the case already so it's wouldn't be completely passively cooled, just very lazily cooled? Good case airflow I mean.

And yes it's fugly, but I bet it'd still look nice on some builds that are tacky.
