I need a help with AT2020+Behringer UMC22

So i tried, i think everything but whenever i connect AT2020 through xlr to xlr cable and to  behringer and my behringer to my laptop it really sound quiet even on 50 % of gain , yes i have enabled phantom power through +48 V and i'm talking to the right side of microphone, i don;t know if that is the issue with drivers or what causing an issue. I just want to have good audio with clear voice on recordings. Is connecting Behringer to laptop with attached usb is enough or i need to output something through behringer to it sounding clear

are you setting the input gain up?

and does your laptop sound louder when playing for example youtube vid at the same volume?

Yes with first control i was setting up input gain , yes and my laptop sound louder when playing vid and the same volume , like i really need almost get volume up to 100 to even barely hear AT2020 , excuse me if that will be a stupid question do i need to connect something to output side of behringer , cause i connected only usb cable and through it to the laptop , maybe then i would get like louder output sound or something

Well yes you can connect a speaker on the Behringer side as an output but that's not a "fix" to your problems

What recording software you use?

i'm talking to the right side of microphone,

Does talking with different orientations Matters? I mean like make a difference?

I mostly used obs , to record and stream , and for like two weeks it was fine ,even when i had on little bit of gain, but like suddenly it don't work anymore , maybe like windows update done something

No i mean there is a front and back side and back side you can't hear anything cause it's cardioid i think . So what i meant i was talking to the front of microphone, cause i read a lot of forum posts which said , do you have microphone on the right side 🙂

I doubt that

I mostly used obs

I mean obs does have mic gain meter

And if your voice is normal (so around mid yellow bar optimally and you can boost that) and if it does show that then the problems is somewhere around apps you're trying to use to playback the recording

Also does the Audio interface driver upto date?

And please do quote or mention people you're replying to...

there isone more thing tho, when you record with the input gain (on the audio interface side) way up does the clipping led lit up?

and are you set up the obs so it use the audio interface as input instead of the laptop built in mic

then its more software related than it is hardware related

did you set the mic to 0dB like this

This is easy to fix. Just click the gear icon next to the speaker symbol in the mixer, select the last entry in the menu (Advanced Audio Properties in english) and then tick the box in the Mic/Aux row under "Downmix to mono" (Again don't know what that says in your language setting but you should find it)

Quote

The issue is actually that you are recording a mono input into a stereo track, as you have only one microphone. A Stereo input or track places Input 1 on the left and Input 2 on the right. ... Always use Mono to record one mic. Use Stereo tracks to recorded two mics on the same source.

again sorry cannot help you completely fix this problem

  • 2 months later...

Hello. i'm also having the same problem. im using AT2020 and UMC22. it was working properly before but now it requires me to turn gain to maximum. I can also hear cracking sounds which is not an issue before. I really dont know what happened. I already tried using it on my desktop and laptop but still the same issue.

May I know what did you do to fix the problem? i've been using  AT2020 and UMC22 for 6 months and this is the first time I encountered this issue. I already tried to use Desktop and Laptop but still the same problem. I used to set the gain to 50% and it will work properly but now it requires almost maximum gain
