Recommendations For Ultrawide Monitor Stand With Odd Desk Size

Would anyone have any recommendations for a monitor stand? My issue is that I'm struggling to find one that matches some very specific specifications, most notably the space/size available on the desk for a clamp.

My desk has a built in shelf that's resulting in most stands not being functional. I either need one that is small enough to fit into a space that's only 3.75in wide with room for me to be able to actually apply the clamp or it has to be big enough to span the entire gap and fit 5in in "desk thickness". The other specification for the arm is that it needs to hold 18.3lbs of weight for a single ultrawide monitor. Stands that just sit on the desk are also an issue, the shelf is only 7.75in deep, so most are either too big for the space or too small to reliably hold that large of a monitor.

You can usually opt not to install the Monitor Riser shelf that comes with the desk for most desks that include it. That's what I'd do.

Why don't you just buy a shorter bolt for the clamping mechanism? Then it'll fit. Though, honestly, the monitor arms I've purchased look like they'd easily fit in that gap. Virtually every monitor arm will support 19lbs, that's not heavy at all. I think you're overthinking things. Personally I'd go the route @kirashi mentioned and just forgo the shelf entirely. It should unbolt. I don't know any Amazon company that would try and ship something like a desk that doesn't pack flat.

Oh I hadn't considered that. I've had that desk built for over a year now and completely forgot that the shelf can come off. Thank you.

I'm looking at that desk and don't see why a normal clamp arm won't work.

The issue is how far down the screw mechanism goes. The screw is too long to fit inside of the gap between the desk top and the bottom of the shelf. Everything else with normal clamp stands is fine.

I would just clamp it to the bottom part. However the ones I have the the only protrude about 4.5 inches below, so I don't think it's an issue either way.

Ya, with 4.5in clearance you should be fine. Most that I've found are just barley too long for the 3.75in gap on my desk. Unfortunately clamping to the bottom with the top in place isn't an option either since the shelf and the desk top are inline with each other at the back of the desk.

I ended up taking kirashi's suggestion this afternoon and removed the shelf. I miss the extra storage space, but I now have the monitor set up, the PC functioning, and the wife happy to no longer have the Livingroom filled with PC parts.
