Next version of Windows event... Windows 11 -> Ended

GoodBytes

I wonder how much Intel paid Microsoft to suck them off the way they just did. "Intel is doing great things with their 11th gen CPUs". No, they really aren't.

Considering Intel panic situation. I think they paid Microsoft a lot, and lots of begging.

  • How is that possible? Store within a Store:
  • lcimg-9abbdc71-7b16-4ba0-b22a-2e6b359bcd

Amazon App Store in Microsoft Store. Store inception!

That would be useful to finally be able to watch Youtube videos offline.

Ok.... so when does this release? What does it cost? Is it free to upgrade from Windows 10? I wish they would have answered these types of questions.

CEO and Chairman of the Microsoft, Satya Nadella said the following important statements:

  • "The world needs a more open platform"
  • "It's a platform for platform creators."
  • Windows is "democratizing force."
  • Talked about how users have agency on their computers (In other words, saying that users are in charge of their PC. A jab at Apple)

And that's a wrap!

I've yet to see anyone mention WSLg, I've been playing with it for a few days now. You can now run Linux GUI apps without a remote X Term server running.

Am I one of the few people that actually doesn't hate the new UI? I don't think it looks bad at all. Android apps on Windows also sounds very useful provided it actually works.

I liked the new UI too. Less box-y looks nicer.

Probably will be revealed at the at the developer event at 3PM EST.

Probably will also include more details on the new Store app.

This first event clearly caters to the everyone crowd

Looks pretty good, to be honest. Shame there isn't a release date.

Make sure to quote or tag people, so they get notified.

  • Multiple-Monitor improvements. When you disconnect a secondary monitor and plug it back, windows of program return back to the way they were.

That's something that I hope can be added to W10. I hate when I have to disconnect a monitor to test out or use a different PC, and then when I reconnect it to my main PC I have to drag back a bunch of windows.

What is the Windows 11 release date?

Microsoft has announced that Windows 11 is going to be available to download by the holidays this year, with beta builds starting to go out to Windows Insiders in the week commencing June 28, 2021.

lmao, lel, did the ms gaming vp say "It just works"?

It just works" - T̶o̶d̶d̶ Godd Howard 2015 - YouTube

I mean, if you're gonna buy Zenimax/Bethesda, you might as well get access to the Howard-isms. Pretty sure that was in the contract, lol. Wouldn't surprise me if Todd had Skyrim pre-installed in Windows 11 as a modern smart app.

hey, does anyone think microsoft played a 9000 iq move on google.

If you want your app to be everywhere, you would want it to be on the amazon appstore.

Also the independent commerce move really makes me suspicious that microsoft instigated the apple vs epic.

Oh yes. Windows as a platform is superficially open and not actually incredibly open.

But to be honest, I don't think the content of that section was actually aimed at the general consumers per se but more to regulators around the world thinking of breaking up big tech.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

With all the original bugs intact, of course.

And yet they are making the world's biggest Linux distribution, essentially - between Android apps and WSLg. And the one that is by far easiest to use.

I like cute animal pics.

Seriously it's a glorified mobile app store on a windows machine pretending they didn't copy Apple! It's disgusting looking and honestly I'd rather buy a Mac and I hate Apple products I've never owned one in my life.
