Case Airflow. Fans positioning. Please Help.

Nidal Hussein

I have a Vetroo Darkflash DLM21 case, which means I can only put 2 fans in the front, 2 fans in the top, and 1 in the back. I am stuck and I don’t know which way to put them. I was told to try and go for neutral pressure but I can’t since I can put 5 so it won’t be even. Another told me to go for positive pressure, I can’t do this either because I can’t put 3 intakes since heat goes to the back and rises. So I can’t put them on top or back. Where do I put them ? I also want to install a 240mm aio in the top. How do I face them? I have 5 fans, (2 in the radiator and 3 on the case.) Thanks and have a great day.

- I attached picture of my case layout so you guys can understand a bit.

What are those 2 Aio's cooling and which one is for the CPU and GPU and even what components are you going for

Usually (for me anyway) you have front as an intake while top and back as exhaust

Sorry I didn’t really understand your comment. I only have 1 240mm aio. It’s going in the top that’s the only place I can place it.

Yes I know but I was told I would then have negative pressure since there would be more exhaust then intake. 3 to 2 ratio.

I was just referring the image you posted and if it's only one 240Aio I would take fresh air in from front and top through radiator and exhaust through back 1x120mm fan and it's not too much positive pressure because the GPU either blower style or normal one will exhaust through back.

I actually don’t have a gpu.

i wouldnt say it was negative, theoretically it was negative, but actually it was more close to neutral ,

it doesnt matter really, i mean i seen a build where the fan is configured negative and the user experience perfectly normal temps

the negative configurations is to only have the fan at the back and top while leaving the front empty

otherwise where else all of that fan getting the air from and the

now ask yourself which is better

having 3 fan as an exhaust in negative configuration or the same thing but with 2 additional fan at the front as an intake to sort of help it

if you have

3 as exhaust and 2 as an intake then it would still be a balanced/neutral ish flow and thats fine

if you stll worried about it (for whatever reason) then just get 1 new fan, easy

id say you overthinking it

Hello, thanks for your help. 5 is the max my case supports. And 1 last question. What if I put 3 intake on back and top and 2 exhaust in front? Or do I just put the 2 intake in front and 3 exhaust in back and top?

That's not usually how it configured but you can try that if you want, and compare it to others config

And for the radiator I put it in the top, with the fans facing the internals of the pc as exhaust ?

Yes inside but for exhaust correct?

sorry I’m wasting a bunch of your time, I just can’t find the answers really anywhere. I know I might be overthinking it but I just don’t want it to overheat or do something wrong.

The impact of case fans is not really that big. Like a few degrees more or less.

At least that's what I've seen in some tests.

But it might depend on case, fans, cooler.
