Why are there still updates to win10 ver. 20H2 if 21H1 is already a thing???

It's actually better if MS continues to offer security fixes and maybe minor bug fixes to older builds. For several reasons, one being that updates are served in very wide time frame. I got my 20H1 updates months after they were already on full effect.

The other good reason is that these big patches have imo rather poor record when it comes to actual working right after release.

And the reason from MS side might be that they already have the small fixes coming through different dev teams and pipelines than the next big pack. I don't know much about effective patching, but would assume that there's benefits of having some components of the bigger update already in place when it's applied.

Just as the title says! Seems kinda weird, right?

And why am I unable to update to 21H1? Hello MS?!

I will gladly stay on 20H2 to avoid catching a disease from the new Windows Explorer design.

Not everyone goes to the latest build straightaway especially in the enterprise sector. And they still need to fix smaller issues with it without having to go to a new feature update.

Huh. Weird because my alt PC is already using 21H1 (not activated). But anyways, thanks for the info!

I don't know why your computer isn't updating. Try using the update assistant. I find that more reliable then settings.

What I was saying is the in business situations for example they wouldn't want to update to the latest feature update in case their are issues with it (which there normally is) as that could result in down time.
