Go to solution Solved by Surestgarlic2,

idk for sure check your drivers but it could be a issue with the actual USB port or windows there are a few different reasons it could happen but most likely it is a driver issue

Hi i have my laptop,

2 usb ports.

for example, a external HDD. if i plug it into UsbPort1 it lights up. (so theres power). but i cant access it.

but when i put it in number 2, i can access it and it works.

same for my wireless mouse reciever

why it that?

No I do not think this could have messed up you USB port because if it got hot enough to mess up your USB port it problaby would have caused more than just 1 problem. how old is this system and what are the specs?

oh I really don't know then it would make since if it was an old shitty laptop but it is a fairly nice one so idk

so you said update drivers.

but do seperate usb ports have seperate drivers?

becasue one does both jobs (read and access)

while the other just gives power to the item?

also do you know the best way to update drivers
