I changed my laptops ram into a different slot and now it won't boot.

My laptop was using half its ram on idle so I decided to change the rams into different slots. I have a 16GB (8x2) Ram. After changing it, I started my laptop but the screen would be black and the fan would go wild. I changed the ram sticks back to their original slots but the same issue was happening. Please help.

Are you sure you are mounting the ram correctly (at an angle, clicked in securely for SODIMM slots)

Pull CMOS battery for 30 seconds (1 minute to be safe)

 

Are the RAM sticks in the original slots again (that was known working) or still in the swapped slots?

If it still doesn't works try putting in 1 stick of ram and check if it boots, to see if the problem is with the ram.
